Audio set-up Selecting Digital Audio output

Each DVD disc has a variety of audio output options.
Set the player’s Digital Audio Output according to the
type of audio system you use.

Press SETUP in stop or playback mode
At the SETUP screen, press

to select Digital

Audio Output and press

.

Press

to select the desired output and press

ENTER.

When connecting this DVD changer to a receiver or other equip-
ment using a digital cable (coax or optical), you must select an
audio output on the DVD changer that corresponds to the type of
receiver being used.

DOLBY DIGITAL/PCM:

Select this audio output setting if you

are connecting the DVD changer with a digital cable (coax or opti-
cal) to a receiver equipped with DOLBY DIGITAL (AC-3) surround
sound but not equipped with DTS.

Stream/PCM:

Select this audio output setting if you are connect-

ing the DVD changer with a digital cable (coax or optical) to a
receiver equipped with DOLBY DIGITAL and DTS.

Note:

Use Stream/PCM setting when connecting to Techwood

A/V receivers DDR94 and DDR95.

PCM:

Select this audio output setting if you are connecting the

DVD changer with a digital cable (coax or optical) to an amplifier
or other equipment equipped only with a linear PCM input or to a
MD recorder or DAT deck.

Notes

If you connect this DVD changer to a receiver or other equipment with a
digital cable (coax or optical) and the receiver does not have a built-in
digital decoder, a very loud noise may be produced which can perma-
nently damage the speakers.

Only use a digital cable (coax or optical) if your receiver has a built-
in Dolby Digital decode

DVD discs recorded in DTS can only be played back in DTS format if the
DVD changer is connected to a receiver with a built-in DTS decoder.
Also, the digital audio output on the DVD changer must be set to
“Stream/PCM” to playback in DTS mode.
If you connect this DVD changer to a regular stereo or use analog audio
cables to connect to a surround sound receiver, any audio output setting
may be selected.
