N.B. Do not remove the fuel from the carburettor if
a stabiliser is used.
(3) OIL CHANGING.
If the oil has not been changed in the last 5
months this is the time to do so. Follow the
instructions in the chapter MAINTENANCE (2. OIL
CHANGING).
(4) GREASING THE CYLINDER LINER.
A. Remove the sparkplug and pour 30 ml of clean
engine oil into the shaft.
B. Cover the sparkplug shaft with a cloth.
C. Turn the crank gear mechanisms of the motor
by pulling the starter.
AVOID SPLASHING OIL OUT OF THE SPARK-
PLUG HOLE WHILE TURNING THE MOTOR.
D. Reassembly the sparkplug. Do not connect the
high voltage lead.
(5) CLEANING THE MOTOR.
Remove any dirt, residues or grass from the outer
part of the motor.
N.B. READ THE INSTRUCTIONS SUPPLIED BY THE
BATTERY AND MACHINE MANUFACTURERS.
STANDARDS FOR PRODUCT
SAFETY AND REPAIRS UNDER
WARRANTY
1) Our liability is limited to the motor produced and/or
marketed under the TECUMSEH trademark.
2) Intervention on the machine must be requested
exclusively from the service stations recommended by
the machine manufacturer.
3) Intervention on the motor must be requested exclusi-
vely from the service stations recommended by
TECUMSEH EUROPA S.p.A..
4) Our liability ceases in all cases in which intervention
was performed by unauthorised service stations.
5) Before requesting a warranty service, check that all
the instructions envisaged in the present booklet have
been respected.
6) DO NOT TAMPER WITH OTHER PARTS
Tampering, negligence in the use of the machine and
normal wear and tear of parts are not considered
defects and are therefore not covered by warranty.
7) The use of non-original spare parts causes our liabi-
lity to cease immediately; the possibility of using war-
ranty services also ceases.
8) Repairs to or the replacement of the entire motor or
parts of it under warranty will only be authorised for the
first owner, for one year after the date of purchase, and
in any case only in compliance with current law.
9) Professional use and/or rental of the machine are
NOT covered by warranty.
10) The list of TECUMSEH authorised service stations
is available from the national distributor.
SETTINGS
NEVER RE-SET UNNECESSARILY. PLANT SET-
TINGS ARE SUITABLE FOR MOST APPLICA-
TIONS.
(1) CARBURETTOR.
If you are convinced that the carburettor needs re-
setting, contact your local authorised TECUMSEH
service station.
(2) MOTOR SPEED.
NEVER TOUCH THE MOTOR REGULATOR, IT
HAS BEEN SET CORRECTLY IN THE PLANT
TO GIVE THE CORRECT MOTOR SPEED.
INCREASING THIS SPEED ABOVE THAT SET
IN THE PLANT COULD BE DANGEROUS.
ANY CHANGE TO THE ORIGINAL SPEED
RENDERS THE MOTOR WARRANTY NULL
AND VOID.
STORAGE
NEVER STORE THE MOTOR WITH FUEL IN
THE TANK IN A CLOSED OR POORLY VENTI-
LATED ENVIRONMENT, TO PREVENT
SPARKS OR OPEN FLAMES FROM COMING
INTO CONTACT WITH FUEL VAPOURS.
IF THE PERIOD OF INACTIVITY EXCEEDS 30
DAYS, PROCEED AS FOLLOWS:
(1) EMPTYING THE FUEL FEED SYSTEM
A. Remove the fuel from the tank and carburettor
to prevent the formation of deposits which could
cause the motor to malfunction.
REMOVE THE FUEL, POURING IT INTO A
SPECIAL OPEN-AIR CONTAINER, WHERE
THERE ARE NO OPEN FLAMES, AFTER
CHECKING THAT THE MOTOR IS COLD. DO
NOT SMOKE DURING THIS OPERATION.
N.B. The use of a fuel stabiliser (such as FUEL
FRESH) is an acceptable alternative to minimise the
formation of residues and deposits during storage.
Add the stabiliser in the tank of the motor or in the
jerry-can. Always respect the mix ratio indicated on
the stabiliser packaging. After adding the stabiliser
run the motor for at least 10 minutes to allow the
stabiliser to reach the carburettor.
(2) EMPTYING THE CARBURETTOR.
Empty the carburettor by pressing the fuel draina-
ge plug positioned in the lower part of the carbu-
rettor (see Figs. 3-2 and 3-4).
REMOVE THE FUEL, POURING IT INTO A
SPECIAL OPEN-AIR CONTAINER, WHERE
THERE ARE NO OPEN FLAMES, AFTER
CHECKING THAT THE MOTOR IS COLD. DO
NOT SMOKE DURING THIS OPERATION.
