3. Connect the cables to the appropriate DC load circuits and the power returns at the front.
The internal cables from the MDS modules and to the power return connect to the
rear studs.

8.3 Alarm and Control
When routing alarm and control wiring into and out of the nrgSMART cabinet, make sure the wire
is suitable for termination on the main I/O board in the provided screw terminals. Telect suggests
that you use flexible, multiple-stranded, tin-plated copper cables. The screw terminal accepts 18-
to 24-AWG wire size. The I/O board provides strain relief for the wires.
Control and alarm wiring is routed differently from the AC power wiring. Take care that you
maintain the provided routing separation. The nrgSMART system includes specific wiring
provisions for the different wiring systems. Use the proper seals, terminals, and conduit hardware
to connect this wiring to the nrgSMART system.
The nrgSMART system has provisions for up to 30 digital inputs, 12 digital outputs, and 6 analog
inputs in its basic configuration. (Always check your specific configuration when planning your
interface and alarm connections, since different configurations can have different numbers of
inputs and outputs.)
Each input and output is programmable to the specific operational requirements set by the site or
the specific equipment needs. The connection points for these interfaces are at the main Input/
distribution board.
The main customer I/O board allows customer or external system connections for digital inputs
(DI), digital outputs (DO), and analog inputs (AI), segregated by groups:
•
Group 1 consists of the pairs of digital inputs at terminals 1 through 40. Each pair consists of
signal and 0 volt (return/common) to support up to a total of 20 digital inputs.
•
Group 2 consists of the pairs of digital outputs at terminals 41 through 64, supporting up to 12
digital outputs. These are programmable contacts for dry alarming or site/equipment control.
