Chapter 10: Turning up the System
10.1 Alerts
WARNING
!
WARNING! The power system is UL rated at 75 Amps, 240 VAC, and 10kA fault current rat-
ing to power the nrgSMART's DC power plant in the enclosure. Ensure compliance with
local electrical codes and the National Electrical Code when connecting the AC power to
the nrgSMART enclosure, including the use of breakers that are UL489-listed and Square
D QOB3100 or equal.
CAUTION
!
CAUTION! Be sure to turn off all breakers to prevent equipment damage.
Read all of the following warnings before operating a Telect nrgSMART™ enclosure.
WARNING
!
WARNING! Electrical safety:
A registered electrician (or suitably qualified person) must check the integrity of the in-
stalled cabling, BEFORE technicians power up the DC power system.
ALERT
!
ALERT! DC earthing:
•
This equipment has a connection between the earthed conductor of the DC supply cir-
cuit and the earthing conductor.
•
Connect this equipment directly to the DC supply system earthing electrode conduc-
tor or to a bonding jumper from an earthing terminal bar or bus to which the DC supply
system earthing electrode is connected.
•
Locate this equipment in the same immediate area (such as adjacent cabinets) as any
other equipment that has a connection between the earthed conductor of the same DC
supply circuit and the earthing conductor, and also the point of earthing of the DC sys-
tem. Do not earth the DC system elsewhere.
•
Locate the DC supply source within the same premises as this equipment.
•
Do not switch or disconnect devices in the earthed circuit conductor between the DC
source and the point of connection of the earthing electrode conductor.
