completely closed when the solar collectors are in use).
4. Attach the solar collectors’ returning hose to the by-pass unit.
Attaching multiple El Niños (fig 8)
El Niño is designed as a modular system to suit all pools and temperature demands. On the by-pass unit you
can attach two El Niño Basic Kits in parallel or alternatively complement with 1-2 El Niño Expansion Kits in
series.
Attaching additional Basic Kit:
1. Cut the plugged connections on the by-pass unit.
2. Attach your additional El Niño Basic Kit with help of the supplied hose connections.
3. Check the flow again (see fig 7). NOTE: you must use both returning hoses from the solar collectors with the
measurement and the flow should now be double (8-20 litres/minute).
Attaching an Expansion Kit:
1. Connect your Expansion Kit with the supplied T-connector hose according to fig 8.
Maintenance
Small holes or tears can be easily fixed with PVC glue. Ensure that the surface is dry and clean before applying
the glue. Always follow the instructions supplied by the glue manufacturer.
Winter preparations (before frost)
1. Check that the power to the pump is off (draw out the cable)
2. Take off the hose brackets from the by-pass unit and put these away
3. Take away the hoses from the solar collectors
4. Ensure that the solar collectors are completely emptied of water
5. Clean and dry the solar collectors with a moist cloth
6. Roll up the solar collectors. DO NOT BEND THEM!
System sizing
You should use a solar collector area equivalent to at least 50% of the pool’s surface area in order for the water
to achieve a comfortable temperature.
Please contact your local El Niño dealer for more information about system sizing.
