7. Continue turning the front-left thumbscrew clockwise 1 turn to raise the slide holder in
that corner.
8. Repeat
for the right side of the slide holder and the middle-right thumbscrew.
9. Continue turning the middle-right thumbscrew clockwise one-half turn to raise the slide
holder on that side.
10. Select the 10x objective on the microscope.
11. Move the stage all the way to its limits to position the back-left corner of the slide holder
under the objective.
12. Use the stage up/down control to bring the top surface of the slide holder into focus.
Take note of the z position located below the mosaic pane in OMNICxi software for a
later calculation.
13. Move the stage straight all the way to the back to position the front-left corner of the slide
holder under the objective.
14. Bring the top surface of the slide holder at that location into focus.
15. Take the new z value and subtract the original z position (
).

Use this number and find the closest match from
. The table provides an
approximate amount to rotate the front-left thumbscrew to level the slide holder from
front to back. Rotate the thumbscrew clockwise if the number is positive;
counterclockwise if it is negative.
Note
• Any time the thumbscrews are adjusted, it is recommend to gently apply pressure
to the slide holder to assure that the adjustment thumbscrews are properly
contacting the stage.
• If the slide holder is running into the hold-down screws, back them out further.
NOTICE
When focusing on the slide holder, the thumbscrews can
potentially collide with the objectives. Objectives to either side of the
primary objective may need to be removed in order to focus on the surface.
Video calibration will need to be done if any objectives are changed.
