Section 2 — Control Panels
Machine Control Subpanel
The Machine Control subpanel (
) can be used to control devices
like DDRs, VTRs, still stores, character generators, etc. This subpanel can
also control the Kalypso Still Store and GPIs to any external device.
Figure 78. Machine Control Subpanel
The Machine Control subpanel controls devices that have been associated
with Kalypso sources. The Kalypso system treats the devices it controls
from this subpanel as logical devices, such that commands can be issued to
different types of devices with logical results. For example a still can be
loaded to a still store or a clip loaded to a DDR with the same command,
since these are identical logical functions. Similarly, a play command can be
issued to both a DDR and a still store equipped with an animation feature
(at the same time if desired). The result will depend on the device’s capa-
bilities and what has been loaded on it. The DDR will run its clip, and the
still store will run its programmed animation.
A multichannel device, like as a Profile VDR, is treated as multiple devices.
Each channel is handled as a different device from the Machine Control
subpanel.
Manual device control is independent of E-MEM device control.
Device Control Delegation
You can delegate machine control source selection to any Kalypso system
Main panel bus (including the key buses).
A bus is delegated for machine control by holding down the
Set Deleg
button and then selecting a source on the desired bus.
