Section 3 — Menus
Up to 16 PBus triggers (0-15) can be associated with each external device on
the PBus. When a device is defined (Eng Setups), names can be given to the
device and each of its triggers. The actual action performed when a partic-
ular trigger is sent is determined by the external device. For user conve-
nience, in Eng Setups each trigger can be given a descriptive name.
PBus device trigger commands are by default associated with E-MEM level
group
Misc 6
. Select the desired trigger(s) in the menu by touching their but-
tons, then Learn an E-MEM register or insert or modify a keyframe with
Misc 6
enabled. The selected PBus triggers will be sent to that device when
that E-MEM register is recalled or when that keyframe is encountered
during the effect run.
You can associate PBus device triggers with any E-MEM level group, not
just Misc 6 (see
menu (
) identifies what level has been associated
with each PBus device.
If PBus device control is not enabled (as determined by the PBus & GPI
Enables menu) a
DISABLED
status is reported for that device. No triggers are
sent to disabled devices.
The
Learn Recall
touch button can be used to learn and recall effects on
external devices. When this button is on and a Kalypso effect is learned, the
Kalypso system instructs the external PBus device to remember its current
effect number. When that Kalypso effect is recalled, it instructs the external
device to recall the effect number that was learned. Note that the external
device must support this feature, and may need to maintain a map of
switcher effect numbers and its own effect numbers (or the data for the
effect itself).
The
Test Trig’s
touch buttons on this menu manually fires all the selected
triggers for that device.
PBus Deterministic Triggers
Kalypso version 10.1 adds a one field delay for PBus triggers to improve
the deterministic behavior of E-MEM effects containing these triggers.
Note
Any E-MEM effects built with earlier software versions that rely on determin-
istic timing of GPI or PBus triggers will need to be tested and probably
adjusted. The adjustment involves moving triggers one field earlier in the
timeline. For example, if a trigger is in a key frame at 1:00, insert a new key
frame for just the GPI or PBus trigger at 0:29.1 and remove the trigger from
the key frame at 1:00.
