Touching the
Efx Send Active
button will toggle Effects Send on or off for the
delegated keyer. When toggled off, the Transform Engine or DPM Effect
Send path channel becomes available for assignment to another keyer.
Touching the
Lock
button locks the assignment of that Transform Engine or
DPM to that keyer, and it will not be released when Effects Send is toggled
off. Locked keyer touch buttons display a red indicator.
The Kalypso system uses a special mechanism to assign and use Effects
Send loops. When the system is first turned on, no TEs or external DPM
channels are associated with any of the keyers. Turning Effects Send on
without specifying a TE or DPM, automatically assigns an unused TE to
that keyer. Turning off an Effects Send loop does not disturb an existing
relationship between TE/DPM and a keyer. Turning the loop back on will
reuse the same TE/DPM. TEs which are associated with a keyer are not
available for use by another keyer if that Effects Send loop is active. For
example, if M/E 1 Key 1 has Effects Send active and TE 1 is assigned, M/E
3 Key 2 would not be able to access TE 1. Turning it on makes the Kalypso
system attempt to acquire a different TE. Eventually, all TEs will be associ-
ated with a keyer. In this case, turning on another keyer Effects Send makes
the system attempt to reassign a TE. If a TE is found that belongs to a keyer
that is not in Effects Send, that TE can be reassigned to a different keyer. To
prevent this reassignment, the Effects Send loop can be left on or the TE can
be locked to the keyer.
Effects Send Status
Two status indicators can be displayed above each delegation button.
When Effects Send is on,
Send
appears.
On Air
appears when that keyer is
being output by PGM PST. Note that the Pgm Pst A bus is always consid-
ered on air.
Effects Send Key On Delay
A Transform Engine or DVE device requires time to process video. The
time needed is equivalent to two video fields (two frames if progressive).
This means video fed to the input of the device (through Effects Send, for
example) comes out of the device two fields later. A change to the source
video sent to the device does not immediately appear on its output. For two
fields the device continues to output video from the previous source. If the
source video is changed and the device is simultaneously keyed on-air, two
fields of undesired video will be shown. The Kalypso system prevents this
