4-M/E Main Panel
The
Wipe 1
and
Wipe 2
buttons select one of two user adjustable wipe transi-
tions. Each predefined wipe can use either the Complex A or Complex B
wipe generator or one of the Utility buses as the wipe shape. Wipe pattern
selections are made in the Wipe menu, which these buttons DPOP to. Auto-
matic subpanel delegation is also available for these buttons.
The
User 1-3
buttons select customized user defined transition settings, or
they can be a Mix, Wipe 1, or Wipe 2 transition. Specialized enhancements
and combinations of transition effects, including NAM and FAM transi-
tions, can be programmed into a user transition. These buttons DPOP to the
User Transitions menu, where the user transitions are defined.
Performing Transitions
The
Cut
and
Auto Trans
buttons and the
Transition Lever Arm
are used to perform
main transitions on an M/E. After a transition completes, the background
source selections flip-flop, readying the B (or PST) bus for the next source
selection. The progress of a transition is indicated in the M/E Status display
(see
Lever Arm Progress Bar on page 76
).
The
Cut
button instantaneously replaces the selected elements with their
new sources or states, regardless of the transition type selected. The button
will light briefly to confirm the operator's action.
The
Auto Trans
button starts an automatic transition of a predetermined rate
). The button will light during the transition.
Pressing
Auto Trans
a second time during a transition stops the transition at
that point. The transition can then be completed by pressing the button a
third time or by moving the
Transition Lever Arm
to its opposite limit.
The
Transition
Lever Arm
is used to manually perform a transition. You can
move the lever in either direction to run a transition due to the flip-flop
architecture of the buses. Moving the lever from one limit to the other per-
forms a complete transition. It is possible to start a transition with the lever,
then stop moving the lever at any point, reverse its direction, and even
return it to the original limit without completing the transition.
Recalling an effect or performing an Auto Trans can leave the lever arm out
of sync with the actual transition. In this state the lever arm is inactive. It
will be necessary to move the lever arm or, if the lever arm is at a limit, run
the effect to regain sync (see
Other Transition Control Interactions on
). The M/E status display indicates the relative positions and which
way to move the lever arm (
display is solid if the lever arm is in sync and hollow if not.
Preset Black
The
Preset Black
button modifies a main transition so that it will go through
black, instead of going directly to the new state. This is an alternate action
button (pressed to turn it either on or off). The
