Section 2 — Control Panels
Master E-MEM subpanel operation is closely related to the Effects Edit and
Effect Run subpanels, which are used to edit and run effects. Functionally,
these three subpanels actually form one integrated set of E-MEM controls.
The Master E-MEM keypad can also be delegated to enter values for other
Main panel controls (including any knob).
In this section, only the additional capabilities of the Master E-MEM sub-
panel will be discussed. Features identical to an individual E-MEM will be
cross referenced.
Master E-MEM Operating Modes (Normal Mode or 300 Mode)
300 Mode is an alternative Master E-MEM method of operation that mimics
the behavior of the Grass Valley Group Model 300 switcher. In this mode,
Master E-MEM Learn operations store the register numbers of the indi-
vidual M/Es, allowing the recall of different combinations of M/E registers
with a single button press. In this operating mode Master E-MEM Learn
operations do not change any existing contents of the individual M/E
E-MEM registers. Only M/Es are affected. Other E-MEM levels (DPM, Still
Store, etc.) behave the same in either Normal or 300 Mode. The current
E-MEM operating mode is selected in the E-MEM Prefs menu (see
) , and is saved and loaded as a Suite Preference.
See the separate Kalypso User Manual for 300 Mode operating information.
In general, you will need to decide which Master E-MEM operating mode
you wish to use, and then build all your effects for use in only that mode.
While effects built in one Master E-MEM mode will recall and run on a
system operating in the other mode, the results will probably not be what
you expect. If you find your effects behaving oddly, check that the correct
Master E-MEM operating mode is selected.
Master E-MEM Enable Buttons
The Master E-MEM subpanel can control the entire Kalypso effects system,
but changing the entire system all at once is rarely needed except when pre-
paring for a new session. The E-MEM system is divided into levels to allow
directing changes to desired system areas (see E-MEM Levels in the Kalypso
User Manual for more information.
The 15 Enable buttons (
M/E 1-3
,
Pgm Pst
,
Still Store Grp A-C
,
Misc 1-7
,
DPM)
are
used to select which levels are subject to control (or enabled) from the
Master E-MEM subpanel, the Effects Edit subpanel, and the Effects Run
subpanel. These Enable buttons go high tally when enabled.
Select All Levels Button
Pressing the
Select All Levels
button enables all the Enable buttons if one or
more of the buttons are not lit, and turns off all the enables if all the buttons
are lit. This allows all levels to be enabled or disabled with a maximum of
two button presses.
