Source and Target Space Related Buttons
The Source and Target Space buttons affect the five other transform param-
eter buttons in that group (
Loc 3D
,
Size Loc
,
Rot, Locate Axis
,
Spin
).
The
Src Space
button delegates source space control of the selected trans-
form parameter.
The
Target Space
button delegates target space control of the selected trans-
form parameter.
The
Loc 3D
button controls translation of a picture along the X, Y, and Z
(depth) reference axes.
The
Size Loc
button
controls picture positioning in the X and Y reference
axes and controls picture size. Joystick deflection in its X and Y directions
translates the picture the same as Locate 3D above. Twisting the Joystick
scales the picture about its center. Locate changes are reference axes depen-
dent, while size changes are reference axes independent.
The
Rot
button
controls the rotation of the picture around the X,Y, and Z ref-
erence axes, limited to ±180 degrees between keyframes.
Note
Following broadcast conventions, moving the Joystick forward or back along
the Joystick’s Y axis rotates the top of the picture forward or back (a rotation
about the X reference axis). Similarly, moving the Joystick left or right along
the Joystick’s X axis rotates the side picture left or right (a rotation about the
Y reference axis).
The
Spin
button
allows control of multiple rotations of the picture about the
reference axes.
The
Locate Axis
button
controls the placement of the reference axes of rota-
tion of a picture. The Joystick can be used to locate the axes anywhere on or
off the screen. The picture is not moved by this function, only its reference
axes.
Other Transform Parameter Buttons
The
Aspect
button
controls the scale of the picture in its X, Y and Z source
axes only. The Z axis control duplicates the Z control of the
Size Loc
button.
When scaling any component of the picture, the center of rotation main-
tains its proportion to the picture.
The
Skew
button
controls the skew of the picture in the X and Y source axes
only. The Z axis is disabled in skew.
The
Persp
button
controls the picture’s perspective and is reference axes
independent.
