4-M/E Main Panel
Once delegated to a bus, any source selected on that bus will be subject to
Machine Control subpanel commands. The current bus selection is saved
as part of User Prefs. The new bus will be used for device control delegation
until changed by the user or a User Pref with a different bus selection is
loaded.
Note
If a background bus is delegated for machine control, when the bus flip-flops
during transitions, the Machine Control subpanel delegation will also change.
The machine control subpanel can also be delegated temporarily to an indi-
vidual machine control source by holding down the source button on any
bus for longer than a second. While the button is held down, machine
control commands will be issued to that device. Releasing the button
returns the delegation to the bus last delegated for machine control.
The Machine Control subpanel issues commands to the delegated device.
When the delegation changes to a different device, the first device con-
tinues to do what it was last commanded to do. As a simple example, a
playing device will continue to play as the delegation changes. This also
applies to mode selections like
Auto Start
, which will start a device when it
goes on air. You can delegate the Machine Control subpanel to a device,
turn its
Auto Start
on, then change the panel delegation. The device will still
roll when it goes to air.
Readout Display
The Machine Control subpanel readout display shows the name of the cur-
rently loaded clip, still, or event (if the device supports this capability). If
the device does not support clip name display capability, the name of the
device will be shown on the readout display. If nothing is loaded,
No Clip
will be shown.
Device Status in Source Name Displays
Device status is also reported with symbols on the source name display of
the device (
).
Control of Devices with Playback Capability
The traditional play, stop, rewind, and fast forward transport controls are
available. These buttons will light based on the state the machine reports to
the Kalypso system. For example, the
Stop
button will light when a con-
trolled DDR is stopped.
