Kalypso Reference Manual
Section 3 — Menus
Disabling device control temporarily can be useful. For example, during a
rehearsal you may not want to cue or roll VTRs. With the External Device
Enables menu you can control which devices will respond without having
to rebuild effects or change engineering configuration.
Devices Pane
The Device pane on the left is a scrolling list of all the DDRs and VTRs
available on the Kalypso system. Only currently configured devices are dis-
played. Touching the button for a device toggles the device between an
enabled or disabled state. When enabled, E-MEM and Machine Control
subpanel commands will be sent to the device during effect runs. When
disabled, the commands are not issued to that device.
The
Enable All
and
Disable All
touch buttons can also be used to enable or
disable all the devices on the list.
Device Statuses
Next to each device button is a status indicator, reporting the state of the
interface to that device.
•
A green
Avail
box indicates the device is controllable from the Kalypso
system.
•
A yellow
Other User
box indicates the device is responding, but is in use
by another control point and has been locked from Kalypso system con-
trol.
•
A red box indicates the device is not responding (
No Resp
), or is
responding but has been placed off-line (
Off Line
).
Only devices controlled by the Kalypso Machine Control option (DDRs,
VTRs) can report an
Other User
or
Off Line
status.
