Still Store Cache Menu
The Cache menu reports cache usage, and can be used to help manage the
cache. Manual cache management is optional, as the still store cache oper-
ates without operator intervention. When the cache becomes completely
filled, older unlocked cached are deleted to make room for the caching of
new items. Touch

Figure 202. Still Store Cache Menu
The Cache Usage pane reports the status of the cache. Values displayed on
the right report the total number of full raster cache pages that can reside
in the cache, and the number of unlocked and locked cache pages. The total
page number is fixed (determined by the amount of memory) but the
locked and unlocked page counts vary depending on the current status of
the cache. Bar graphs on the left show the percentage of unlocked and
locked material in the cache.
The locked and unlocked page numbers represent full pages of video, and
these values can be greater than or less than the number of items actually
cached. A full raster video and key still requires two pages, a 1/25 fenced
recording uses 1/25th of a page, and each frame of an animation clip uses
equivalent space. Thus, a 1/25 fenced video with key clip that is 10 seconds
long requires 24 pages of storage{(10 x 30 x 2)/25 = 24}.
The
Uncache Unlocked
button uncaches all Still Store items that are not locked
(items loaded to an output are locked).
