Section 2 — Control Panels
Key Type Buttons
The four buttons in the Key Type button group selects from five different
key types for the delegated keyer. Single button selection is available for
Fixed Linear Key, Luminance Key, Chroma Key, and Preset Pattern. An
Adjustable Linear Key is also available.
•
The
Fixed Lin
button selects a Fixed Linear Key, which uses clip and gain
values defined in Engineering Setups. These values cannot be changed
from the panel.
Note
Fixed Linear mode produces a proper key if the source has been set up and
defined properly. If not setup properly, you can compensate by selecting
Adjustable Linear mode.
•
An Adjustable Linear Key can be selected by pressing the
Fixed Lin
and
Lum
buttons simultaneously. The
Gain/Clip Hi/Soft
and
Clip/Clip Lo/Size
knobs provide a limited range of control of Clip Hi and Clip Lo.
•
The
Lum
button selects a Luminance key. The
Gain/Clip Hi/Soft
and
Clip/Clip Lo/Size
knobs provide a full range control of Clip and Gain.
•
The
Chr
button selects a Chroma Key. The
Gain/Clip Hi/Soft
and
Clip/Clip Lo/Size
knobs provide control of Clip Hi and Clip Lo. Additional
menu controls are available via DPOP.
•
The
Pst Ptn
button selects Preset Pattern, which cuts the hole in the back-
ground using an internal wipe pattern generator (or Utility Bus video),
rather than a source’s key cut signal. The
Gain/Clip Hi/Soft
knob controls
the softness of the preset pattern edge, and the
Clip/Clip Lo/Size
knob con-
trols the size of the preset pattern shape. Additional knob controls are
available if a Box wipe pattern is used (see
Joystick
in the Transform subpanel, when properly dele-
gated, controls the location of the preset pattern on the screen. Wipe
pattern selection and other preset pattern adjustment are available via
DPOP.
Note
The Preset Pattern and Masking features share common keyer hardware.
When a Preset Pattern is being used by a keyer, masking will be disabled for
that keyer.
Separate key memory settings are retained for each key type (Linear, Lumi-
nance, Chroma key, and Preset Pattern). Note that the state of the
Video Key
button that determines what signal is used for key cut (see below) is
included as part of each of these source memory settings. With source
memory on, selecting a key type automatically selects the correct key cut
signal.
Opacity Knob Control
The
Opacity
knob is used to adjust the overall opacity of the key of the
selected key type. It is also used to adjust the opacity of borders and masks.
