Microphone Mute
Micropho ne Mute allows you to tur n off your telepho ne's microphone i n
two diff erent i nsta nc es:

You ca n tur n it off duri ng a call for which you ar e not usi ng th e
ha ndset (i.e., a Sp eak erpho ne call or while r espo ndi ng Ha ndsfr ee
to a voic e a n nou nced i nt ercom call). This al lows you to also have
a co nversatio n i n your offic e without sendi ng your voic e to th e
party o n th e li ne.
•
You ca n tur n it off whil e your pho ne is not i n use. Th is ensur es that
a new i nt ercom caller, whos e voic e is broadcast over your pho ne's
sp eak er, w ill not h ear what is b ei ng said i n the vici nity of your
pho ne at the moment th e call com es through.
You must, however, tur n o n th e microphone or lift the ha ndset to co nverse.

SENDING
SIGNALS-
Wh en you place a n i ntercom call to a
busy ( off-hookt) extension, you ca n send a sig nal to the busy us er
to indicate you ar e try i ng to g et through. (See pag e
29.)

RECEIVING
SIGNALS-
Whil e you ar e busy o n a call (off- hook),
you will r ec eive sig nals when a s eco nd call is trying to r each you.
You do not have to a nswer th e sig nals if it is i nco nveni ent to do so.
