CHAPTER 14: TRANSPoRT bRACkET oPTIoN
INTRODUCTION
This Chapter provides detailed instructions on the proper use of TiLite’s Wheelchair Transport Bracket
Option for your wheelchair.
The TiLite Wheelchair Transport Bracket Option has NOT been crash-tested either pursuant to ISO 7176-
19 “Wheeled Mobility Devices for Use in Motor Vehicles” or pursuant to ANSI/RESNA WC19. Therefore,
the Wheelchair Transport Bracket Option is provided solely for the purpose of securing an UNOCCUPIED
wheelchair in a motor vehicle.
To confirm that your chair is equipped with the Transport Bracket Option, look for the label as shown in
Figure 14-1.
IF YOUR CHAIR HAS TRANSPORT BRACKETS BUT DOES NOT HAVE A STICKER, YOU MUST
ASSUME IT IS EqUIPPED WITH THE TRANSPORT BRACKET OPTION.

SECURING THE WHEELCHAIR TO THE VEHICLE

WARNING
The two front transport brackets (see Figure 14-2) should NEVER be removed or relocated to
another position on the wheelchair frame. The two rear brackets (see Figure 14-2) should NEVER
be removed or relocated to another position on the wheelchair. However, if your chair is equipped
with a depth adjustable frame/back, then the two rear transport brackets may be removed ONLY if
it is neccessary to adjust the seat depth. However, any adjustment of the rear transport brackets
must ALWAYS be performed by an authorized TiLite dealer, and even if such an adjustment is
made, you must ALWAYS use the bolts and nuts originally shipped with your wheelchair. If you
