Technical error
If a defect on the vaporizer makes it unsafe to use, this will be indicated by an alarm. Dis-
pensing of Desflurane will not be possible in this case. If the vaporizer is in the operating
screen, further information will be provided, in addition to the alarm message, in an addi-
tional window on the main section of the screen. In Menu mode this information field is hid-
den.
If the defect occurs during use of the device for dispensing of Desflurane, a high priority
alarm will sound and the dispensing of Desflurane will stop. If the vaporizer is not being
used for dispensing Desflurane at the time of the defect, a medium priority alarm will
sound.
WARNING
Risk to patient due to underdosing of volatile anaesthetic
In the case of a technical fault, the dispensing of volatile anaesthetic
into the fresh gas flow of the anaesthesia workstation will be halted.
Keep an alternative means of sedation available in order to con-
tinue with sedation.
Example: High priority alarm
Dispensing DES is not possible.
Put the vaporizer into Standby mode and restart.
