WATER PUMP REPLACEMENT
1.
Draining all engine coolant from the system.
Loosen the band clamp on the thermostat
bypass hose at the outlet manifold indicated
here.
2.
Loosen the alternator and remove the V-belt
from the pulleys.
3.
Note: When the pulley reference mark is
aligned with the reference mark on the
timing cover, the engine is at TDC on the
flywheel side cylinder. The engine should be
fixed in a position so that rotation cannot
occur during replacement procedure.
4.
Secure the engine from rotation and remove
the main crankshaft pulley center bolt.
CAUTION
: THE CENTER BOLT IS LEFT HAND
THREAD.
5.
Remove the 4-M6 hex head bolts holding the
pulley to the crankshaft. Remove the
crankshaft pulley.
6.
Remove and note the position of the 5 hex
head screws attaching the timing cover to
the engine. The attaching screws are
differing lengths. Remove the timing cover
and set aside.
7.
Loosen the nut on the timing belt idler pulley
and remove the idler. Inspect the pulley for
any damage or wear. Remove the timing
belt. Use caution to ensure the crankshaft
and camshaft pulleys are not rotated.
