Reassembling the ball joint
1.
Grease the ball joint and insert it into the
housing.
2.
Put the cap on the housing and apply anti-
seize on the thread. Screw it in all the way
until it is tight. Unscrew the cap 1/8 turn. This
is necessary to allow proper clearance for
smooth steering operation.
3.
Place two new copper washers in the
housing
(these lock the cap in place).
4.
Reinstall and tighten the Allen set screws.
5.
Replace the rubber boot on the spindle and
secure it with its snap ring. The rubber boot is
important for keeping the grease in the ball
joint and keeping the dirt out, replace it when
it is cracked and or torn.
