b) Cutting a male thread

• Determine the correct external diameter of the blank. Align the blank with the nut that you wish to use.
• Choose the correct bolt die. Insert the bolt die into the die holder. Secure the bolt die using the screw on
the die holder.
• Insert the die holder into the tap wrench (
ratchet
).

• Set the direction of rotation for the handle to the right position.
• Apply a small amount of cutting oil to the blank.
• Turn the thread in a clockwise direction.

• Set the handle to the left position.
• Turn the bolt die anticlockwise to remove iron filings and remove the bolt die from the workpiece.

• Remove loose iron filings and screw the nut onto the finished thread.
• It may be necessary to apply a small amount of oil to the thread.
c) Storage
Apply a small amount of oil to the bolt die and screw tap for storage.
Store the product in a cool, dry place. Ensure that no condensation forms.
