Installing the placement station
In order to avoid burns, it is recommended to safely place the hot
air nozzle on the placement station.
There are two oblique threaded holes at the left and right sides of
the housing, which can be used to fasten the placement station.
Before operation
Please make sure that the hot air nozzle is cold!
If the hot air nozzle is still warm/hot, let it cool down first.
1. Select a nozzle adapter that corresponds to the size of the work piece!
2. Loosen the screw at the nozzle adapter and place it on the hot air nozzle.
3. Fasten the nozzle adapter! Do not tighten the screws too much! Do not use force and pull
the nozzle adapter with pincers!
Operation (switching on and off)
Also observe the section „Safety instructions“!
1. First, put the device on a level, firm and sturdy surface.
2. Plug the main plug into the wall socket - the automatic blower feature is thus activated!
3. Turn on the device! (POWER: ON = On). The heater immediately starts heating up when
powered on. Check on the display whether the desired temperature unit °C or °F is shown.
Follow the instructions provided in the Chapter “Settings” to change this.
4. You can set the desired hot air temperature by the temperature control “SET TEMP”. The
red light indicator next to the rotary knob indicates the active temperature setting. If lit, the
temperature can be adjusted while you turn the knob, the desired target temperature is
displayed. About 3 seconds after the temperature has been set, the display switches to the
actual temperature. As soon as the preset value is shown on the display, you can start
soldering.
5. Now set the air flow rate with the controller (AIR) and wait a bit until the temperature is
stable! On the display the air flow is shown by the indicators A25 to A99. A25 is the lowest
air flow velocity, while A99 is the highest. The display switches back to the temperature
display after approx. 2 seconds.
6. After your work is finished, turn off the device using the main switch (POWER OFF). Now
the automatic blower feature blows cool air through the tube to cool down the temperature
of the heating element and the handle to below 100 °C. Therefore, do not unplug the main
plug from the wall socket as long as the cooling process is not done! Cooling takes approx.
1 minute. The process of cooling is indicated on the display. When the temperature has
fallen to 100 °C, the device turns off automatically a short while later.
Settings
1. Selecting the temperature unit
To change the temperature unit from °C to °F or vice versa, turn off the device by the main
switch “POWER OFF”. Wait until the device has cooled off, the blower and indicators as
well.
Press and hold the red button while switching on the device by the main switch “POWER
ON”. The temperature unit in the display is changed by means of this procedure. The unit
is stored also after the device is turned off.
2. Automatic switch-off time
After the adjustable switch-off time has passed, the device automatically puts the heater
and the pump of the soldering tool in the standby mode. The device remains switched on,
and is easily activated again by pressing the red button. On delivery, this function is
deactivated and set to “OFF”.
In order to activate this function, press and hold the red button. The display shows “- - -”.
Adjust the desired switch-off time with the control button “AIR”. The adjustment range can
be set between 20 to 600 seconds. Selecting the indication “OFF” deactivates this function.
Release the red button. The value is stored and maintained after turning the device off.

Hot Air Soldering/Unsoldering AT 850D
Item no. 588074
Intended use
This hot air soldering/unsoldering system is suitable for soldering and unsoldering SMD- and
micro components, DIP and Flat Pack ICs as well as for shrinking and heating plastics and
metals, for removing labels etc. Temperature and airflow are adjustable - shot warming-up time.
Working with hot air enables an ESD-safe working without contact with the work piece. Four
nozzles are included in the delivery.
This product is only approved for connection to 230 Volts / 50 Hz (10/16 A) alternating volt-
age and designed for indoor use. The product must not be operated outdoors and in humid
environments!
The product’s design corresponds to Protection Class 1. Use only a properly grounded wall
socket of the public power network as a voltage source. The main socket must be located near
the equipment and easily accessible, or an emergency shut-down must be in place.
Operating the product in any way other than the one described above is not permitted and may
lead to damage of the product, which can increase risks such as short circuit, fire and electric
shock. Always observe the safety instructions included in these operating instructions. Read

by mishandling or non-compliance with the safety instructions!
An exclamation mark indicates that important notes in these operating in-
structions should always be observed.
• The device must not be modified or converted, as not only the CE approval will
become void but so will the warranty.
• Products operated using the mains voltage must be kept out of the reach of chil-
dren. For this reason, be particularly cautious when using the products in the pres-
ence of children. They may try to stick objects into the device through openings in
the housing. There is a perilous electric shock danger and risk of burning.
• Never pour any liquids onto electric devices and do not place any liquid-filled ob-
jects onto or close to them. You run the risk of causing a fire or a fatal electric
shock.
• Use the product in dry indoor areas only. It must not get damp or wet. Otherwise,
there is a life-threatening danger due to electric shock!
• Never plug in the product directly after transferring it from a cold to a warm room.
The condensation that develops in such cases could damage the device or cause
an electric shock. Allow the appliance to reach room temperature. Wait until the
condensation has evaporated. This might take several hours. Only after this
should it be plugged in to the mains supply and put into use.
• Do not carelessly leave the packaging material lying around since this may be-
come a dangerous toy for children.
• In commercial institutions, the accident prevention regulations of the employer’s
liability insurance association for electrical systems and operating facilities are to
be observed!
• If you should have reasons to assume that safe operation is no longer ensured,
turn off the device and secure it against accidental use. Safe operation is no longer
ensured, when:
- The device shows visible signs of damage or no longer functions.
- The power cable or plug is worn or otherwise damaged.
- The device has been stored under unfavourable conditions for a longer period
of time.
- The device has been exposed to strong stress during transport.
• The product must not be exposed to high mechanical pressure.
