• Injuries and damage to property due to broken application tools or the sudden impact of hidden objects
during use.
• Danger of injury and property damage caused by flying objects.
f) Service
• Have your power tool serviced by a qualified repair person using only identical replacement
parts. This will ensure that the safety of the power tool is maintained.
• If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or its service agent in order to
avoid a hazard.
g) Specific safety rules
• Use clamps or another practical way to secure and support the workpiece to a stable platform. Holding
the work by hand or against your body leaves it unstable and may lead to loss of control and potential
injuries.
• To reduce the risk of explosion, electric shock and property damage, always check the work area for
hidden gas pipes, electrical wires or water pipes when making a blind cut.
• Keep hands away from all cutting edges and moving parts. Do not reach underneath the workpiece.
• Do not use dull or damaged blades. They can cause excessive friction, blade binding and kick back.
• Know your workpiece. Remove/saw nails and screw heads before scraping. Hitting hard objects with a
blade may cause the tool to kick back.
• Prevent dust accumulation at a work area. Dust can easily ignite. Fire hazard!
• Use the power tool only for dry sanding and do not scrape wet materials. Penetration of water into the
power tool could damage it.
• Wear a dust protection when working on:
- lead from lead-based paint
- crystalline silica from bricks and cement and other masonry products
- arsenic and chromium from chemically-treated lumber
Inhalation of these harmful/toxic dusts can endanger the health of the operator and bystanders. The
risk from these exposures varies, depending on how often you do this type of work. To reduce your
exposure to these chemicals: work in a well ventilated area, and work with approved personal protective
equipment (PPE), such as dust masks that are specially designed to filter out microscopic particles.
