Removing the Mower
1.
Park the machine on a level surface, disengage
the blade control (PTO), shift into neutral, set
the parking brake, and turn the ignition key to
“OFF” to stop the engine.
2.
Remove the key from the ignition switch and
pull the wire off the spark plug.
3.
Move the height-of-cut lever (deck lift) into the
“D” notch.
4.
Remove the height-of-cut lift assist spring from
the retaining bolt (Fig. 39), using the spring tool
provided with the machine. The spring is
between the frame and the right rear wheel.

POTENTIAL HAZARD
•
The height-of-cut lever (deck lift) is
spring-tensioned.
WHAT CAN HAPPEN
•
When the mower is being removed, this
spring-loaded mechanism could suddenly
release and injure you or someone else.
HOW TO AVOID THE HAZARD
•
Move the height-of-cut lever (deck lift) to
the “D” position and remove the
height-of-cut lift assist spring to release the
spring tension.
5.
Move the height-of-cut lever (deck lift) into the
“A” notch.
6.
Unhook the blade control (PTO) cable from the
roller guides and idler arm on the right side of
the mower (Fig. 40). Move the cable out of the
way so it cannot get caught on the mower.
