Safety Instructions
The Reelmaster 216/216-D has been tested and veri
fied for compliance with the B71.4-1984 specifications
of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) for
riding mowers when equipped with rear ballast (see
Operator’s Manual). Although hazard control and acci
dent prevention are partially dependent upon the design
and configuration of the machine, these factors are also
dependent upon the awareness, concern, and proper
training of the personnel involved in the operation, trans
port maintenance, and storage of the machine. Im
proper use or maintenance of the machine can result in
injury or death.

and understand these instructions before op
erating the Reelmaster 216 216-D or doing
maintenance, troubleshooting, testing, ad
justments or repairs. Failure to comply with
the safety instructions may result in personal
injury.

Before Operating
1. Read and understand the Operator’s Manual before
starting, operating, maintaining or repairing the ma
chine. Become familiar with the controls and know how
to stop the machine and engine quickly. Replacement
Operator’s Manuals are available by sending complete
Model and Serial Number of traction unit and cutting
units to:

2. Never allow children to operate the machine or adults
to operate it without proper instruction. Only trained
operators who have read this manual should operate
this machine.
3. Become familiar with the controls and know how to
stop the machine and engine quickly.
4. Never operate the machine while under the influence
of drugs or alcohol.
5. Keep all shields, safety devices and decals in place.
If a shield, safety device or decal is defective or dam
aged, repair or replace it before operating the machine.
6. Always wear substantial shoes. Do not operate ma
chine wearing sandals, tennis shoes, sneakers or when
barefoot. Do not wear loose fitting clothing that could get
caught in moving parts and possibly cause personal
injury. Wearing safety glasses, safety shoes, long pants
and a helmet is advisable and required by some local
ordinances and insurance regulations.
