Personnel Protection
•
Installation, operation, and maintenance shall be performed by Qualified Personnel Only.
•
Failure to observe the following precautions may result in equipment damage, electric shock, or
fire.
- Use this device only with the ASD for which it is designed.
- Turn off power to the ASD before installing or removing the device.
- Do not exceed the operating specifications of the unit.
- Keep the device free of fluids and abrasives.
- If the device begins to emit smoke, produce a peculiar smell, or make odd noises, turn off the
ASD immediately.
- Obey all warning labels and precautions.
System Setup Requirements
•
Turn off the ASD when installing and wiring this option.
•
The programming setup and system configuration of the ASD may allow it to start the motor
unexpectedly. Familiarity with the Auto-restart settings of the ASD is a requirement to use this
product.
•
Follow all warnings and precautions and do not exceed equipment ratings.
Operational and Maintenance Precautions
•
Do not install the DeviceNet module if it is damaged or if it is missing any component(s).
•
Turn off, lockout, and tagout the main power, the control power, and instrumentation connections
before inspecting or servicing the ASD, or opening the door of the enclosure.
•
Turn off, lockout, and tagout the main power, the control power, and instrumentation connections
before proceeding to disconnect or connect the power wiring to the equipment.
•
Allow time for the ASD capacitors to drain their charge. The capacitors of the ASD maintain a
residual charge for a period of time after turning the ASD off. The required discharge time for each
ASD type is indicated with a cabinet label, and the red Charge LED indicates residual charge.
Once the ASD power has been turned off wait for at least the minimum time indicated on the
enclosure-mounted label and ensure that the red Charge LED is off before opening the door of the
ASD.
•
Turn on the power only after attaching (or closing) the front panel. Do Not remove the front panel
of the ASD when the power is on.
•
Do Not attempt to disassemble, modify, or repair the DeviceNet module. Call your Toshiba sales
representative for repair information.
