Placing an original
Originals that can be sent
Operating the Fax unit, you can send a fax of the following originals.
You can place 1-sided or 2-sided originals of media types, such as plain paper, recycled paper and
paper having holes (2, 3 or 4 holes) for filing, on the RADF (Reversing Automatic Document Feeder) or
DSDF (Dual Scan Document Feeder). When the original glass is used, originals such as overhead
transparencies, tracing paper, booklet or 3-dimensional objects, that cannot be placed on the ADF can
be scanned, as well as plain paper.

You may not obtain enough image quality when an original with a paper weight of more than 157 g/m
2
(41.8 lb.) is used.
Do not place any heavy objects (4 kg/9 lb. or over) on the original glass and do not press on it with
force.
If the original is any of the following sizes, it is automatically rotated and sent as described below.
A4 to A4-R
A5-R to A5
B5-R to B5
LT to LT-R
ST-R to ST
You need to select the original size by yourself when placing the following originals whose sizes
cannot be detected correctly:
- Highly transparent originals (e.g. overhead transparencies, tracing paper)
- Totally dark originals or originals with dark borders
- Non-standard size originals (e.g. newspapers, magazines)
