4. An improperly installed cable will result in no communication between the logic card and the thermal
print head.
To install the thermal printhead flat cable, complete the following step:
1. Orient the cable so the longest end is facing up and the blue stripe facing away from you.
2. Slide the long end of the cable into the printer unit just under the printhead mount.
3. Route the rest of the cable through the printer unit frame toward the logic card.
4. Connect the cable to the printhead; then, install the printhead (see “Installing the thermal printhead” on
page 52 for information on how to install the printhead).
5. Connect the opposite end of the cable to the thermal printhead flat cable connector
C
(Figure 27 on
page 53) on logic card; then, install the logic card (see “Installing the logic card” on page 56 for
information on how to install the logic card).
6. Install both the paper door and main covers (see “Installing the paper door cover” on page 42 and
“Installing the main cover” on page 46 for instructions).
Removing the logic card
This section provides the information needed to remove the logic card from a fiscal or fiscal ready printer.
Attention:
When you handle static-sensitive devices, take precautions to avoid damage from static
electricity. For details about handling these devices, see “Handling static-sensitive devices” on page 27.
To remove the thermal printhead flat cable, complete the following step:
1. Remove the fiscal tray (see “Removing the fiscal tray” on page 28 for information on how to remove
the fiscal tray).
2. Remove the top and main covers (see “Removing the paper door cover” on page 41, “Removing the
main cover” on page 44, and “Removing the fiscal base” on page 47 for information on removing the
covers and fiscal base).
3. Press the paper door release lever to put the paper door in the open position.
4. Disconnect the logic card from the flex cable or interface card:

Flex cable (Fiscal printer):
a. Turn the printer over and place it on the work surface upside down.
b. Disconnect the flex cable from the logic card and set it aside for future use.
Note:
When disconnecting the flex cable do not grasp flex cable itself. Grasp the connector and
pull it away from the logic card.

Interface card (Fiscal ready printer):
a. Place the printer unit on one side as shown in Figure 28 on page 55.
b. Press to release the latch and pivot the interface
