INTERNAL CALL TO A BUSY EXTENSION
This test verifies that the VP 300 correctly processes a call forwarded from a busy
extension.
A. Set phone B to forward to the VP 300 on a busy condition by dialing the feature access
code for Call Forwarding – Busy followed by the VP 300 access number. After setting
forwarding for phone B, leave phone B off-hook so that it appears busy.
B. From phone A, call phone B. Does the VP 300 answer with the prompt, “Extension
EXT-B is unavailable. Please leave a private message at the tone…”?
NO

Determine the cause and correct the problem before continuing.
C. While still connected to the VP 300, enter the mailbox number of mailbox B. This
should be the same as the extension number of phone B. Does the VP 300 respond with
the prompt, “Thank you. Just a moment…”?
NO

D. After a short interval, does the VP 300 respond with, “Extension EXT-B is unavailable.
Please leave a private message at the tone…”?
NO

EXTERNAL TRUNK CALL TO THE VP 300
This test verifies that the VP 300 correctly processes calls from trunks that have been
auto-terminated to the VP 300 hunt group. Be sure to test all such trunk groups.

1-800 (InWATS) lines can be tested individually, even if they are bands from other
areas, by using plant test numbers. Get these numbers from the CO if you do not
already know them.
A. From phone A, call outside of the PBX and back in on a trunk that auto-terminates to
the VP 300. Does the VP 300 answer with the greeting configured for the trunk?
NO

B. From the terminal connected to the VP 300, enter the P S command. Does the port that
answered show FWD state?
NO

Determine the cause and correct the problem before continuing.
C. Dial
9 9
to exit the VP 300. From the VP 300 terminal, busy out the VP 300 port that
answered the call. Use the command
TE C 1 x
where x is the port number.
D. Repeat steps A through C for each VP 300 port until all the ports are busied out. This
is to confirm that each VP 300 port can answer a trunk call.
E.
To release all VP 300 ports from the FWD condition, from the VP 300 terminal, use
the command
TE C 2
