available, it should be enabled for the MIC ports’ class of service so that programmed names do
not have to be changed.
If no name is programmed for an extension or trunk, CPI will correctly identify that extension
or trunk. Trunk names, if assigned, must follow the guidelines below unless the MIC ports are
assigned the COV Voice Mail Port class of service option. The VP 300 always identifies
forwarded external calls by individual trunk number. Therefore, if the VP 300 is to process
forwarded calls according to their trunks, the individual trunk numbers must be included in VP
300 TRUNK GROUP table. If names are programmed for directory numbers, the names must
follow the guidelines below for correct operation of CPI, unless the MIC ports are assigned the
COV Voice Mail Port PBX class of service option is available. The telephone directory feature
allows multiple names to be assigned to a single directory number. If multiple names are
assigned, only the prime name must follow the guidelines below. To preserve the use of the
telephone directory features, a non-prime name that does not include the employee’s extension
number may be assigned to each extension.
•
Names for individual extensions must be preceded by the extension number. For names
using the LASTNAME, FIRSTNAME format, the LASTNAME must be preceded by the
extension number. Programming names in this manner will interfere with proper operation
of the Dial By Name feature unless non-prime names that do not include the extension
number are assigned for each extension.
•
Names for trunk service numbers must start with the string TXXX where XXX is the trunk
service number. This number, excluding leading zeros, is the trunk group number assigned
in the VP 300 TRUNK GROUP Table.
•
Names may contain any other information that is desired, but the string specified in items 1
and 2 above must precede any other numeric characters. Also, the character immediately
following the string must be non-numeric.
