Description
The purpose of this service bulletin is to advise the field of an
issue with Symbio 700 on Odyssey split systems where the
equipment will not respond to commands or inputs.
The action described in this general service bulletin is
NOT
being
taken to address a safety concern.
This is an
INFORMATION ONLY
service bulletin.
Affected Units
Odyssey condensing unit Model TTA and TWA, with Symbio 700
(model digit 15 = S) and serial number range 2036* through
2116*.
Discussion
Odyssey split system equipment with Symbio 700 controllers and
firmware v1.00.018, v1.00.019 or v1.00.020 may become
unresponsive to commands and/or inputs, and the equipment will
not operate.
Field return analysis has detected that a population of Symbio 700
controllers were configured with an error from the factory.
Possible symptoms of this issue include:
•
Controller is powered on, but equipment does not run
•
Controller ignores thermostat inputs, but gives no indication
why
•
Controller will have a configuration, but may be missing
points
•
Onboard Display may be missing Settings and Status pages
The failure mode can be confirmed using the Symbio Service and
Installation App
. The notice “The equipment will start.”, followed
by error “An unknown error occurred (code 00604:16)” is
confirmation. See Figure 1.

Upon startup or during preventive maintenance, update firmware
to ensure proper operation over the life of the equipment.
