Winterizing the Appliance
WARNING
THE GAS MUST BE TURNED OFF IF A COVER IS INSTALLED ON THE APPLIANCE.
Failure to turn off the gas when the appliance is covered can create a severe safety hazard and may result in property
damage, personal injury, or loss of life.
In areas where the appliance may not be used in winter, or for an extended period, you may wish to cover the
appliance. If a cover is used you
MUST
shut off gas to the appliance. This will ensure the appliance is not
accidentally turned on or started with debris or snow inside the appliance.
Yearly Service Procedure
DANGER HIGH VOLTAGE:
Disconnect power before attempting maintenance or repair.
Failure to inspect and maintain the appliance may lead to improper combustion and a potentially
dangerous situation. We recommend the following procedures be done by a qualified technician.
THIS APPLIANCE IS NOT USER SERVICEABLE:
Contact your dealer for service.
Inspect the pilot flame. The top 1/4" of both the thermopile and
igniter should be within the flame. If it is not, contact your dealer for
service.
Shut off the gas to the appliance and let it cool for 15 minutes.
Remove crushed glass. If excessive sooting is found, the appliance
will require adjustment. Contact your dealer.
Inspect the burner and remove any debris.
Make sure the burner is not warped, cracked, or damaged.
Check the firebox and area around the pilot to make sure
there is no warping or damage.
If any problem is found, discontinue use and contact your
dealer for service.
Replace the crushed glass.
Check the gas control valve and the gas lines. If damage is found, discontinue use and contact your dealer for
service.
Start the main burner. After 15 minutes, the flames should be orange/yellow. If the appliance is not burning
correctly, contact your dealer for service. If the igniter is not getting hot or lighting the appliance properly contact
your dealer for service.
