6. Functional
Checkout
CAUTION
The purpose of this initial functional checkout of the TAC-7X is to
ascertain that the operation of the device is satisfactory. In particular, it
verifies feeder-bowl operation, track assembly feed and contact
transfer.
No crimps should be made at this time on contacts. Only
after completion of Crimp Verification (Section 3) should the
crimp indenters be permitted to crimp contacts.
Perform the following steps to ascertain that the functional operation of
the TAC is satisfactory:
Step 1.
Load the feeder bowl with approximately 1000-2000
contacts.
Step 2.
Set the feeder-bowl power on-off switch to on.
Step 3.
Observe the feeder-bowl , and set the variable vibration
control to a setting which feeds contacts around the
bowl at a rate of approximately 1 inch/second.
Step 4.
Observe that, after a while, contacts are feeding to the
top of the bowl continuously.
NOTE: Contacts may or may not be entering the track assembly at this
time.
Step 5.
Close the sleeve valve.
Step 6.
Observe that the track assembly is now being loaded
with contacts.
