Explanation of Protocols
This section gives an explanation regarding the various protocols and the naming
conventions in use. This section might offer some clarification when you are
uncertain which protocols you may need.
In order to establish a connection to the Internet via ADSL, various protocols are
available. Each party often refers to these protocols by a different name. For
example, it may be that your ISP or ADSL line supplier refers to the PPPoA protocol
with the name ‘RFC2364’, or as in the software resident in the modem, ‘NDISWAN’.
Your ISP will inform you which protocol is required.
Refer to tables 2 and 3 below for the correct names of the various protocols.
