Mechanical Rigidity Reference

The adjustment of regulators is closely related to the mechanical rigidity. Generally, systems with high
mechanical rigidity have higher servo control rigidity. Some general rigidity standards are listed below. Note:
These are general standards. Even though they are observed, it may still cause mechanical vibration and lead to
a poor system responsiveness.
High-rigidity machines
Include machines directly connected to ball-screws, such as high-precision processing machines like machine
tools, placement machines, etc.
Middle-rigidity machines
Include machines driven by ball-screws and controlled through gear boxes, or machines of long size directly
connected with ball-screws. For example: general working machines, transporter, etc.
Low-rigidity machines
Include synchronous belt driven, chain driven machines or those with fluctuated gearboxes. For example,
articulated robots.
