Safety Information
Safety Information / Using the LED light / Using the jump leads
gearboxes, put the gear lever into the neutral
position. With automatic gearboxes put the
gear selector into „P“.
Position the jump leads in such a manner that
they cannot be caught up in the moving parts
of the engine.
Using the LED light
In poor lighting conditions, the LED lights
4
make connecting the jump leads easy.
To switch on the LED light
4
set the ON/OFF
switch
5
to (
I
). To switch off the LED light
4
set the ON/OFF switch
5
to (
0
).
Two button cell batteries are located in each
terminal. To replace these, remove the screws
which are affixed directly to the ON/OFF
switch
5
and remove the plastic cover.
Please note the polarity when inserting the
batteries (plus and minus poles).
Using the jump leads
Connecting
EXPLOSION HAZARD!
On no
account should you connect the
negative pole terminal (-) to the flat
battery as there is a risk that sparks may fly
and ignite explosive gases.
1. Connect the red jump lead
1
with the red
pole terminal (+)
1a
to the positive pole on the
flat battery (A) an.
2. Connect the other pole terminal
1b
of the red
jump lead
1
to the positive pole of the donor
battery (B).
3. Connect the black jump lead
2
with the black
pole terminal (–)
2a
to the negative pole of
the donor battery (B).
4. Then connect the other pole terminal
2b
of the
black jump lead
2
to the vehicle chassis, e.g.
on the earthing strap or another unpainted
part on the engine block of the broken-down
vehicle (A).
Note:
The parts should be as far away as possi-
ble from the starter battery in order to prevent any
explosive gas that may develop from being ignited.
Note:
If the green LED of the overvoltage protection
3
lights up, it means that this has been activated
and is functioning. The overvoltage protection ab-
sorbs any potential voltage peaks.
Starting
After you have connected the jump leads, first
switch on the engine of the vehicle with the
donor battery and bring it to average speed
(car B). Then start the engine of the broken-down
vehicle (car A).
Note:
After every attempt to start the car - which
should not be longer than 15 seconds - wait for
at least 1 minute. If you cannot start the car after
several attempts, contact a garage.
After successfully starting the broken-down
vehicle (car A) wait for 2 to 3 minutes until the
engine is running smoothly.
Disconnecting
Note:
Disconnect the jump leads in the reverse
order to the way they were connected.
1. Remove the pole terminal
2b
of the black jump
lead
2
from the earth strap of the broken-
down car (A).
2. Then disconnect the other pole terminal
2a
of
the black jump lead
2
from the negative pole
of the donor battery (B).
3. Remove the two pole terminals
1a
and
1b
of
the red jump lead
1
in any order you wish
(A, B).
When removing the jump leads, make sure that
they do not come into contact with the moving
parts of the engine.
