Lateral bed extension
The lateral bed extension allows the user to extend the width of the patient sleep surface from 35" to 47". The
functionnality is available with the handle under seat section. Usage of lateral mattress extension cushion is
required.
WARNING
• Siderails are designed to prevent patient to inadvertently fall from the bed.
• Ensure there is no obstruction on either side of the bed before using the lateral extension for patient sleep
surface. If not avoided, damages to bed and/or to environment could occur.
•
Always ensure the mattress used on bed complies with specifications of recommended mattresses, or
ensure to adapt bed width accordingly. If not, situation could become hazardous for patient fall or patient
entrapment.
The RETRACTION/WIDENING handle offers the possibility to activate all sections of the bed from 35" to 47".
To activate:
1. To widen or retract, reach manual handle located under the seat section (illustrated).
a. Completely pull the handle from under the seat section.
Turn the handle counterclockwise to widen or clockwise
to retract the patient sleep surface.
b. Once retraction or widening is completed to required width,
ensure to store the handle back in place under the seat
section.
2. Properly install the appropriate mattress and/or mattress
extension for lateral bed extension.
a. Ensure that the cushion for extension is properly secured
and extension is locked prior to put the bed in service.
IMPORTANT
Remove patient from bed before set up of bed extension or ensure patient is in the center of the bed.
After widening or retracting bed with lateral bed extension, ensure to perform a zero on the bed. Refer to
Zeroing
procedures
section (page 36).
