keyboard cable into one of the ADB ports on the back of your
computer.
■
If the keyboard has a separate cable, first plug one end of the
cable into the unused ADB port on the left or right side of
your keyboard. Then plug the other end of the cable into the
ADB port on the back of the computer.
Connecting Peripherals
If you are new to working with the MacOS, it’s a good idea to get some
experience using your computer before you connect other equipment
such as a printer, scanner, or modem. To learn basic SuperMac J700
computer skills, see Chapter 2.
When you are ready to connect other equipment to the external ports
on your SuperMac J700 computer, see Chapter 3 for instructions.
Network Connections
Your SuperMac J700 computer supports both AAUI and 10 BaseT con-
nectors for Ethernet network capability. You can also connect to a
LocalTalk network by means of the printer port.
Generally, you will connect your network cabling to one port or the
other. If you should connect cables to both ports, the 10 BaseT connec-
tion will override the AAUI connection. The 10 BaseT status indicator
is lit when the 10 BaseT connection is active.
