Chapter 4. PUSH BUTTON SCANNING
The defining feature of the Astra MX3 is its push button functionality. You
can scan an image to e-mail, perform OCR (optical character recognition), or
even use the scanner as a copy machine by pushing one of the three buttons on
the front panel of the scanner.
You can increase your productivity by accessing all of the normal scanner
functions without having to launch the software applications through the
onscreen interface.
Before you can use these time-saving functions, you need to configure the
settings for each button. Follow the appropriate set of instructions below to
configure the variables for each button.
Configuring the Scanner Buttons
To open the Push Button Configuration software:
Click on the
VistaScan
icon on the Control Strip to open the pop-up menu and
select
Push Button Configuration
.
There are three icons in the Button Configuration windows. Each icon
represents a separate scanner button function. Clicking on the icon displays a
window with options.
•
Scan - Adjust the settings for the Scan button.
•
Copy - Adjust the settings for the Copy button.
•
Custom - Adjust the setting for OCR or E-mail when you press the
Custom button.
Make changes to settings or choose different applications by clicking on the
pop-up menu next to feature you want to change.
Setting the Scan Options
These settings will be used whenever you press the
Scan
button on the front of
the scanner.

Click on the
Scan
icon.

Select the image editing software. Choose one of the available
applications. If the application you want to scan to does not appear in the
Scan To pop-up menu, click on the
Add
