Checking the fertiliser distribution irregularity by means of portable measuring
vessels.
In order to check whether the fertiliser distributor is working correctly, the trays should be
placed transversely to the direction of movement of the tractor as specified in Table 1 for
the used working width. When the blades are set correctly, the amount of fertiliser poured
from the trays to measuring vessels should be similar. If there are any irregularities, the
blade setting on the left and right distribution discs should be changed.

The examples of incorrect crosswise distribution of fertiliser as well as the manner of
correcting the distribution disc blade or blades in order to achieve optimum distribution have
been presented on page 25. Such operations are intended to check the regularity of
distribution of the fertilisers which are not included in the distribution data tables. The most
important factors having an impact on the regularity of distribution include bulk density (b.d.
in the table) and grain size. The first value is frequently given on the fertiliser packaging.
The second value, the percentage grain size, can be checked by means of a grain size
meter.
