Charge the battery with a current of 19 A until copious evolution of gas occurs
in each battery and the voltage and electrolyte density remain constant within 2
hours.
In the course of charging the acid temperature should not exceed +45 °C.
When the temperature of +45 °C has been reached, the charging current should be
reduced twice and correspondingly, the charging time should be extended or
charging should be stopped until the electrolyte temperature reduces down to 30-
35 °C. In the course of charging the electrolyte density grows, and by the end of
charging it reaches the number specified in Tabl. 6, taking into account temperature
correction as per Tabl. 8.

If at the end of charging the electrolyte density, measured taking into account
the temperature correction (see Table 8), differs from its norm, correct the electro-
lyte density by adding distilled water, when the density exceeds its norm, or by
adding the electrolyte having a density of 1.40 g/cm
3
when its density is lower than
the norm. Upon correcting, continue charging (for mixing the electrolyte) within
30-40 min.
Half an hour after the charging has been finished, set the electrolyte level of
10-15 mm above the safety shield, screw in the plugs, wipe the battery surface with
a piece of cloth moistened in 10 % ammonia solution or that of soda ash, then wipe
it with a piece of cloth moistened in water and after that wipe it dry. Put the cover
and protection hood.
In special cases, when it is required to put the dry-charged battery into op-
eration quickly, it is permissible to mount them onto the truck without electrolyte
