To adjust the braking force regulator of the empty truck bring the air pressure
in the pneumatic system to 0.6 MPa (6 kgf/cm
2
), (as per pressure gauge in the cab),
when the brake pedal is pressed, and changing the length of upright tie rod 8 (see
Fig. 77) by means of moving the coupling along it, set the estimated pressure at the
outlet from the braking force regulator as per instruction plate of the braking force
regulator (see Fig. 10) depending on the truck complete set.
The pressure at the outlet is checked with the help of portable pressure gauge,
connected to the check outlet valve in the air supplying main to the air booster of
the axle bogie.
Check stability of the pressure established by the braking force regulator by
filling in the pneumatic system with air three times and letting it out of the pneu-
matic system. After that tighten the clamps on the coupling. Tie rod 8 connecting
the regulator lever with the elastic element, should be mounted in the upright po-
sition.
The trailer brake disengagement valve
is located in the cab on the dashboard
and serves for driver’s checking the ability of the towing truck parking brake system
to hold the road train on the slope. For this purpose it is necessary to brake the
truck with the help of parking brake, press the button of the trailer brake disen-
gagement valve; in so doing the air is let out of the trailer brake chambers. Con-
tinuing to hold the button pressed, make sure that the road train is held on the
slope securely for a few seconds. Release the button.
