If the differential lock of intermediate and rear axles is not turned on or turned off, it is
necessary to push the truck (back and forward) until indicator lamps will light up or blink off.
Turn on the box of auxiliary power takeoff and the power takeoff box when the truck
stopped, the clutch is turned off and the pneumatic-system air pressure is below 500 kPa (5
kgf/sm
2
). After pushing the button “Home/Com” and lighting the indicator of this button
“Home/Kom” on control panel the clutch pedal shall be released. If the indicator lamp does not
light up, turn the main drive shaft of the transfer box with short unfinished clutch engagement. If
after this, the indicator does not light up, eliminate the failure and repeat actuation.
Slowdown the truck smoothly, gradually increasing the pressure on the pedal. On long
slopes use the engine braking using the secondary brake. With it the engine cranking speed could
be close to rated, but to not go beyond 2300 min
-1
. If the engine speed is close to 2300 min
-1
, peri-
odically intensively stop the truck with pedal brakes.
Caution! Do not turn of the engine passing long slopes.
It is not recommended to stop the truck on the slope. Upon the forced stoppage it is nec-
essary to take measures excluding the possibility of rolling the truck down: turn off the fuel feed,
turn on the parking brake, first gear of the gear box and put blocks under wheels.
Proceed with caution upon movement on the slippery and ice-covered roads to
avoid the side slipping.
On the trucks which have the centralized tire pressure control system, moving on the
roads with the improved road pavement with nominal load, the tire pressure shall be rated.
Do not decrease the tire pressure more, than it could be necessary for road conditions.
Remember that mileage upon decreased pressure is limited, so decrease pressure only in case of
emergency.
When moving with the decreased pressure, keep the eye on tire pressure gauge readings.
Allowed time of driving with the decreased tire pressure depends on the truck weight - the more
weight is, the less time of driving shall be.
The driving with decreased pressure for increasing of ride comfort is prohibited. Upon
ongoing driving the tire pressure could increase due to tire warming up. To decrease rolling re-
sistance and fuel consumption, do not decrease pressure of the warmed tires.
6.4.1 Ford Passing.
The truck equipped with the pressurization system could overcome
the ford to the depth of 0.7 m after special development. Before ford passing it is necessary to
measure the ford depth, check the bed condition, make sure of absence of holes, big stones,
squashy ground, choose and check places of entrance and exit for the truck out of water, and also
mark with pole deep places.
For ford passing establish the nominal inflation pressure of tires.
Pass ford at the first or second gear of the gear box, low gear in the transfer box and with
the locked interaxle differential. Drive into at low speed not making waves, avoid manoeuvring,
do not stop. Time for presence of the truck in water is no more than 15 min.
