Useful tips and advice
Energy-saving tips
We recommend you follow the advice below to save energy
• Try not to leave the door open for long periods to conserve energy.
• Make sure that the appliance is protected from any source of heat (direct sunlight, electric oven
or cooker, etc.).
• Do not set the temperature to any colder than necessary.
• Do not store hot food or steaming liquid in the appliance.
• Place the unit in a well-ventilated room without humidity. Refer to the chapter on Installing your
new appliance.
• If the diagram shows an appropriate combination of drawers, bins and shelves, do not adjust the
combination as it has been determined as the most efficient energy configuration.
Tips for freezing
• When starting for the first time or after a period of downtime, leave the appliance running for at
least 2 hours at the highest settings, before adding food to the compartment.
• Prepare food in small portions so that it can be quickly and completely frozen and only the
amount required can be thawed later.
• Wrap food in aluminium foil or polyethene food packaging that is airtight.
• Do not allow fresh, unfrozen food to touch food that is already frozen to prevent its temperature
from rising.
• If consumed immediately after removal from the freezer compartment, frozen products are
likely to cause frostbite on the skin.
• It is recommended that each frozen package be labelled and marked to monitor the storage time.
Tips for storing frozen food
• Ensure that the frozen food has been stored correctly by the food retailer.
• Once the food has been thawed, it will deteriorate rapidly and must never be refrozen. Do not
exceed the storage time indicated by the food manufacturer.
Turning off your appliance
If the appliance is to be switched off for an extended period of time, the following measures should
be taken to prevent mould on the appliance.
1. Remove all the food.
2. Disconnect the power plug from the mains socket.
3. Clean and dry the interior thoroughly.
4. Ensure that all doors are wedged slightly ajar to allow air to circulate.
