FCC Information
This equipment has been tested and found to
comply with the limits for a Class A digital
device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules.
These limits are designed to provide
reasonable protection against harmful
interference when the equipment is operated
in a commercial environment. This
equipment generates, uses and can radiate
radio frequency energy and if not installed
and used in accordance with the instruction
manual, may cause harmful interference to
radio communications. Operation of this
equipment in a residential area may cause
harmful interference in which case the user
will be required to correct the interference at
his own expense.
INSTALLATION
Operation
The VIP-483 provides IP loudspeaker paging
access via network connection to customer
telephone system or stand alone telephone set.
Interface to customer telephone system can be
via SIP registration, FXO or FXS port (with
appropriate PBX connection and Valcom
VIP-81x/82x).
Mounting
The VIP-483 is designed for flush mounting on a
hollow surface or to a Valcom backbox. Using
Figure 1 as a guide, cut a hole in the mounting
surface large enough to allow recessing the
FlexHorn into the wall. Next, drill mounting holes
in the surface to align with the four mounting
holes in the stainless steel grille. Using
appropriate anchors and screws (not included),
mount the VIP-483 to the surface. Alternatively,
Valcom backbox model VB-R16 is available for
mounting this model.
Power Connections
The only method of powering a VIP-483 Network
Interface is via a Power over Ethernet (PoE)
network switch or power injector meeting the
802.3af specification.
Network Connection
The VIP-483 has one Ethernet network connector
on the circuit board. Use a standard Ethernet
patch cable to connect the Ethernet connector of
the VIP-483 to an Ethernet switch.
Signal Connections
Signal connections from the network interface to
the FlexHorn are pre-wired at the factory.
No further connections are required.
Status Indicator Lights
The VIP-483 Network Interface has 2 status
indicator lights on the RJ-45 Ethernet connector.
One LED (left corner) indicates Link when lit, the
other LED flashes to indicate network activity.
Setup
Information specific to your application will need
to be programmed into the VIP-483 using a
computer. The PC used for programming should
be connected to the same subnet as the VIP-483.
Setup will be done using the IP Solutions Setup
Tool. The IP Solutions Setup Tool may be
downloaded from the Valcom web site at
http://www.valcom.com.

Valcom equipment is not field repairable.
