Fireplace Control Devices
There are three ways to control your
fi
replace.
1. Remote Control;
2. Manual On/O
ff
Switch;
3. Wall Switch (optional) .
The Remote Control turns the
fi
replace ON and OFF
and sets the
fl
ame height—see details starting on
pages 8-9.
The valve manual On/O
ff
switch must be ON “
I
” for
the
fi
replace to function. It can be used to shut o
ff
the
fi
replace in case of emergency—see below.
The Wall Switch (optional) can be used to turn on, o
ff
and to increase or decrease the
fl
ame height—see
1265WSK or RBWSK—Wall Switch Kit.
How to Turn Your Fireplace OFF
(including
pilot)
Familiarize yourself with each of these methods before
operating your
fi
replace.
Handset and Wall Switch:
Press and hold the OFF
button for a second (either on the handset or the wall
switch).
If the
fl
ames are on, they go down and you hear the
valve motor wind down. You hear a clunk and a beep
indicating that the valve has received the signal from
the remote control.
In the unlikely event that you cannot turn o
ff
your
fi
replace with the remote control handset, use the
wall switch (if installed); if the wall switch malfunctions
and will not turn o
ff
the
fi
replace, wait 8 hours and the
fi
replace will automatically go to pilot. You can access
the controls inside your
fi
replace. Alternately, you can
turn o
ff
gas supply. In all cases, call your dealer for
service assistance.
How to Prevent Inadvertent Ignition
Use one of the two following methods to ensure that
your
fi
replace will not turn on when you don’t want it on.
• Prevent
your
fi
replace from lighting. Remove bottom
cover, locate the gas valve and press the
O
button
of the manual ON/OFF switch on the valve.
• Alternately, you can remove all batteries from the
battery box as well as the battery from the handset.
Automatic Shut-O
ff
(in certain conditions)
Your
fi
replace’s remote control is equipped with an
automatic shut-o
ff
mechanism which is activated in
certain conditions. See page 9 in
Using the Remote
Control
section for a description of this feature.
