STARTUP AND ADJUSTMENT OF ACF-8

Prior to filling the feeder with Vantage® Calcium Hypochlorite Tablets:

1.  Open any isolation valves on either side of the feeder.

2.  If a solenoid valve or an electronic controller is used, open the solenoid valve by using a manual

feed setting or turning on a chlorine feed cycle.

3.  Open the feeder inlet control valve and adjust the flow to 0.1 to 1.0 gpm depending on the

desired output rate.  If the feeder output is being controlled manually the feeder inlet control valve
will be used the increase and decrease chlorine feed rate.  Water should be seen flowing into the
feeder.

4.  Water should leave the feeder at the same rate it enters the feeder.  The effluent water should be

suctioned out by eductor suction or flow by gravity into a surge pit if the surge pit installation was
used.  If the feeder is controlled manually, adjust the inlet and outlet control valves to balance the
water level in the bottom of the feeder.

5.  Observe that the water level does not continue to rise in the lower tank.  This indicates that the

influent flow is greater then the effluent flow and water will overflow out the overflow drain.

6.  Prior to filling feeder read First Aid, Precautionary Statements, Directions for Use and Storage

and Disposal directions on the Vantage Calcium Hypochlorite Tablet label.

FILLING THE FEEDER:

1.  Remove feeder lid.   Partially fill the feeder with Vantage Calcium Hypochlorite Tablets.  Do not fill

the feeder completely for the first few days or until proper operation has been observed.  Replace
feeder lid.

2.

DANGER:

Use only VANTAGE® Calcium Hypochlorite Tablets.  Never add or use any

other type of chlorinating or brominating chemicals in this feeder.  Use of any other prod-
uct may lead to explosion or fire possibly leading to personal or bodily injury.  Always
read and follow directions and precautionary statements on the calcium hypochlorite
tablet label.

3.  Ensure that the feeder is operating properly by observing the water level in the tank.

4.  If the water level in the tank gets two high, water will flow out the overflow drain.  Check the sup-

ply water flow for proper influent flow rate and check the effluent flow for proper operation.

5.  Manually test pool water and adjust the feeder and controller until the chlorine level stays

between 1.0 and 5.0 ppm.
