Connect
Capillary
Column to
Injector
Follow steps 1-7 to install a capillary column into your injector.

Cut off sealed section at each end of new column.

Uncoil 10 cm at injector end of column.

Slide appropriate column nut and ferrule on each
end of column.

Make a clean cut with the cutting tool 1-2
″
(2-4 cm)
from end of the column. Inspect the cut to verify it is
square and smooth.

Move nut and ferrule to within 5 cm of column end.
For 1079 injector (except “on-column” modes):
Measure and mark column at 7.5 cm from end.

Holding column in one hand, gently slide column into
injector until it stops
OR
For 1079 injector (except on column modes):
Engage the column nut on the injector and then slide
the column into the injector until the mark on the
column aligns with the bottom of the nut.

Finger-tighten the column nut while holding the
column in place, then tighten a further 1/4 to 1/2-turn
with a 5/16
″
wrench.
