An input is activated or said to be present when its two signal
wires are connected together. This can be done with a relay
contact closure. If the inputs are driven from another instrument
with optical isolators or other polarized devices, then attention
must be paid to the polarity of the signal wire connections. The
positive (+) output signal must be connected to the positive (+)
input signal and the negative (-) output to the negative (-) input.
The color coding and physical design of the cable connectors
ensure that correct signals and polarity are matched.
The outputs are optical isolators and simulate a relay contact
closure when they are activated (refer to Figure 8). The minimum
requirement for an input signal to be detected is
200 milliseconds.
